  • 1/2 cup lukewarm whole milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl; let stand for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl; make a well and add the yeast mixture, butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the cheesecake filling by blending cream cheese until smooth; add sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and sour cream; mix until combined.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, add cheesecake filling, and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape, cut into equal pieces, place in a baking dish, cover again to rise for another 35 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing and topping with sliced strawberries.
