  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, balances acidity)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by combining Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, spices, and salt in a bowl. Coat the chicken and let it sit for at least an hour.
  2. In a large pan over medium heat, heat oil and butter. Sauté chopped onion until golden brown; add garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in spices and cook for another minute before adding tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer gently.
  4. Pour in heavy cream or coconut milk and simmer until slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Add marinated chicken to the sauce and cover. Cook on medium-low heat for about 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
  6. Finish with fresh lemon juice and chopped cilantro before serving.
