  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix almond paste, butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the filling down the center third of the pastry. Cut diagonal strips on both sides and fold them over alternately.
  5. Brush with remaining egg and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.
