  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/3 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling by cooking diced apples with sugar, water, lemon juice, and spices until softened.
  2. For the dough, mix dry ingredients (flour, sugar, yeast, salt) in one bowl and wet ingredients (milk, egg) in another. Combine and knead until smooth.
  3. Roll out the dough and spread the apple filling evenly over it. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before rolling tightly into a log.
  4. Cut the log into pieces and let them rise in a greased baking dish until fluffy.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown for about 25-30 minutes.
  6. Prepare cream cheese frosting while rolls cool slightly and spread generously over warm rolls.
